Traphaco with the goal of a multi-field leading company

From a small-sized and nascent pharmaceutical company, after 45 years of development, Traphaco has risen to join the group of leading pharmaceutical companies in Vietnam and has already inaugurated an environment-friendly pharmaceutical factory specializing in western medicine.

Traphaco now takes the top position among leading herbal medicine producers, is considered as a "specialty" of Vietnamese pharmaceutical. The former Deputy Minister of Health, Le Van Truyen, has expressed his high opinion of three lines of the newly-inaugurated factory as the most modern type available in Vietnam at present.

CEO Tran Tuc Ma said:

“Over the past 45 years, we always persist in the goals of sustainable fitness for a healthy life with products of herbal medicine manufactured on the base of green supply chain from clean materials to producing technology with an environmental friendly distribution systems and services. We are also one of the pioneering pharmaceutical companies to develop GACP-WHO-standardized material areas for cultivating and collecting medicinal herbs in Sapa, Bac Ha (Lao Cai) with artichoke and tam that (panax pseudoginseng), xuyen khung (ligusticum wallichii) Nam Dinh with dinh lang (polyscias fruticosa), etc. Traphaco annually uses about 4,000 tons of medicinal herbs, more than 90% of which are cultured and harvested in Vietnam.”

Having made a big name in herbal medicine production, Traphaco has finished building a modern western pharmaceutical factory, why is this change?

Vietnam's pharmacy industry is growing at 20% every year and by 2020, the sector's target is that 80% of the drug in treatment comes from domestic production, while the current figure is just over 50%. We build a modern factory, with three production lines of pills, lotions, eye and nasal drops to serve consumers’ increasing demand of high quality products.

Nowadays, due to consumers’ new and various needs of using these products after swimming, riding in the dusty traffic, exposing to toxic products, etc., the need for eye and nasal drops increases. With old factories, the quantity of product sometimes failed to meet the market demand. However, with the new plant, the productivity has gone up triple, helping us to better serve the market.

What is Traphaco's goals for the time coming?

Traphaco is setting the 2020 target of VND4,000 billion/year in revenue, VND500 billion/year in profit, VND10,000 billion in market capitalization and the leading pharmaceutical company in the growth of revenue, profit and market capitalization. Additionally, we persevere the green health path with evidence as the completion of a new factory (Traphaco Hung Yen factory). It is equipped with green standards, level-A wastewater treatment, all production lines are dust-free and cross-contamination-proof.

The pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam is under fierce competition both at home and abroad. In that situation, which strength does Traphaco wish to uphold?

In the past, when talking about pharmaceutical distribution, few people thought of domestic businesses, but Traphaco has considered this for a long time and we have worked hard to build a modern distribution system that is now beginning to get contact with big names in pharmaceuticals and hand out their products in Traphaco's system. To date from 2014, Traphaco has also developed a network from 6,700 pharmacies to over 27,000 pharmacies as today. Along with this goal, we always put priority on developing good products for Vietnamese. At present, Traphaco's flagship products such as Boganic, Totri and Hoat Huyet Duong Nao are taking the lion’s share in their respective market.

Traphaco has made a breakthrough

“In 1996, I signed a decision on good manufacturing practice standards with pharmaceutical factories. The first phase is also difficult, but so far, the Vietnamese pharmaceutical factories have satisfied ASEAN’s GMP standards, some of which even meet the standards of the World Health Organization and EU’s GMP. Among them, Traphaco has made a historic breakthrough when building a new factory with all three lines classified as the most modern one in Vietnam and the factory is also striving to meet EU’s GMP.”
