Traphaco receives National Quality Gold Awards 2015

Seventy seven businesses, including Traphaco JSC, were honored with the 2015 National Quality Gold Awards 2015 at a ceremony held in Hanoi on May 8.

The National Quality Gold Award is one of two awards presented by the Vietnamese Prime Minister, using the US quality assessment model.

The award honors businesses for their outstanding achievements in improving the quality of products and goods. The award winners are selected based on the seven criteria such as: the role of leadership; operational strategy; the policies on customers and market; measurement, analysis and management of knowledge; management and development of human resources; process management; and results of operations.

The award aims at honoring outstanding enterprises of Vietnam, thereby building and promoting local brands and raising the position of Vietnamese goods and services on the domestic and international market, strengthening the capacity and competitiveness of domestic organizations and enterprises through the innovation and improvement of productivity, quality of products, goods and services.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Viet Thanh - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Council of National Quality Awards - said: "Launched in 1996 as part of the quality and productivity improvement movement, the National Quality Awards has been far beyond the framework of a simple movement and become an effective tool to help Vietnam enterprises improve their competitiveness and management skills. This is also the motivation for Vietnamese businesses to enhance operational efficiency and ability to integrate into the regional and global markets".

Thanks to the application of information technology and the modern tools to manage productivity and product quality, Traphaco JSC achieved impressive results in 2015.

As the leading business in the pharmaceutical industry of Vietnam, Traphaco JSC is one of the 10 large manufacturing enterprises awarded with the National Quality Gold Awards 2015, which is the recognition of the company’s positive and sustainable contribution to the pharmaceutical industry and the society. Traphaco previously received the National Quality Gold Awards in 2012 and the Asia - Pacific Quality Awards 2013.

Traphaco is the pioneer in the application of high technology in distribution management system (DMS) in Vietnam. All of its salespeople are equipped with tablets so that they can timely update and analyze sales data accurately. Thanks to the modern DMS, Traphaco leaders can well manage customer information and sale data, through which making the right decisions at the right time. They can also well monitor salespeople’s activities.

The modern technology has also urged Traphaco salespeople to become more professional, through which administration is significantly improved, contributing to profit growth by reducing financial costs, storage costs, increasing labor productivity and the efficiency of the quality management system.

After nearly two years applying information technology in management, Traphaco has achieved great success. At present Traphaco has the best distribution system in the pharmaceutical industry, with 20 branches, 3 subsidiaries and distributors, selling medicines directly 22,000 pharmacies nationwide.

According to IMS Report, by the end of 2015 Traphaco was among the leading firms in the pharmaceutical market of Vietnam. For the OTC commodities, Traphaco ranked 3rd for revenue. Last year, revenue from drug stores grew by 41% compared to that of 2014. The company’s consolidated revenue also rose 20% and after tax profit increased by 23.3% compared to 2014.

Traphaco is the pioneer in applying technology in pharmaceutical distribution. Learning from Traphaco’s success, many companies in the pharmaceutical industry began using this technology to manage the distribution system and to better serve the customers.

Launched in 1996, the annual National Quality Awards serve as an effective tool for companies to evaluate their operational efficiency and management to increase productivity, goods and service quality, and competitiveness.

Over the past 20 years, as many as 1,690 businesses have been presented with the awards, including 188 winners of gold prizes.
