Traphaco announces GACP-WHO medicinal herbs for Polyscias fruticosa and Polygonum aviculare areas

On May 24 and 26, 2017, the Ministry of Health’s Traditional Medicine Management Department received Traphaco’s announcement of GACP-WHO medicinal herb production for the two medicinal plants of Polyscias fruticosa and Polygonum aviculare.

Accordingly, Traphaco’s Polyscias fruticosa growing area in Hai Hau and Nghia Hung districts in Nam Dinh province with a toal area of ​​50 hectares and an estimated output of 450 tons per year and the Polygonum aviculare growing area in Tay Hoa district, Phu Yen province with a harvesting area of ​​1,200 hectares and an estimated output of 150 tons per year are recognized to satisfy GACP-WHO standard.

Polyscias fruticosa is a tree familiar to Vietnamese people. It has long been cultivated in the garden of many families, pagodas, clinics, hospitals as ornamental and herbal trees. This safe source of Polyscias fruticosa has been used by Traphaco to produce Traphaco brain tonic and then Cebraton brain tonic.

With more than 20 years of experience in producing traditional medicines, Traphaco has launched the Cebraton brain tonic with the combination of Polyscias fruticosa and Ginkgo biloba, which can help increase blood circulation, effectively treat circulatory dysfunction, prevent and treat memory loss, and prevent stroke. Currently, Cebraton is the only brain tonic that uses 100% clean, safe medicinal herbs meeting GACP - WHO standards in Vietnam. Clinical test of Cebraton at the Central Hospital for Traditional Medicine showed that up to 97% of patients escaped from sleep disorders after 30 days of treatment. Other symptoms of patients such as memory loss, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance, fatigue were significantly improved.

Polygonum aviculare is a rustic vegetable in the Southern and the Central regions of Vietnam. This plant is rich with Saponin, Flavonoid, fiber and vitamin C. The plant is good for digestion, the function of liver and bile, cooling the body and reducing blood sugar. Polygonum aviculare is combined with Artichoke and Ipomoea nil to produce Boganic – a liver and bile tonic.

Boganic has been used in more than 500 medical treatment facilities throughout the country. The results of clinical research at the Central Tumor and Cancer Hospital and Thai Binh General Hospital showed that Boganic liver tonic can significantly improved the symptoms of impaired hepatic function and hepatitis, such as anorexia, indigestion, dyspepsya, yellowed skin, yellow urine… Boganic helps lower the liver enzyme with 67% of patients having their liver enzymes returning to normal after 10 days

In building and developing the plantation area, Traphaco is gradually upgrading control standards. This adjustment aims to tighten the management and control of its planting areas to ensure stability and increase the quantity and quality of pharmaceutical materials for production. At the same time, the company also builds a model of cooperation between the parties to develop medicinal plant growing areas. It is a cooperative model of the four sizes: the State – the Farmer – the Scientist – the Business. As a result, the planning and expansion of the GAPP-WHO herbal plantation areas of ​​Traphaco is not only well controlled but also receive enthusiastic support from various agencies.

Traphaco’s projects to grow and harvest medicinal herbs have contributed to the education of consciousness of conservation, development of medicinal plant resources in Vietnam, preservation of traditional medicine and pharmacy knowledge, encouraging farmers to grow medicinal plants, through which not only contributing to poverty reduction, but also helping farmers get rich from growing herbs. This is also a development strategy in line with the national pharmaceutical policy orientation for the period 2011-2020, with a vision to 2030, with priority given to the development of medicines from Vietnamese medicinal herbs, through which gradually reducing the import of medicinal materials and increasing the export of Vietnamese medicinal plants and medicines.
